1024 Challenge · Unscripted
AI Hackathon
Unscripted is a hackathon in a very convincing disguise. Your team becomes a fictional company, you make something people can use, watch or play, and the audience invests three coins in the work they love. No coding required: every company gets an AI intern.
Dates are being set. The countdown appears here the moment they are.
The rules, abridged
The full handbook is one click away. Here is the short version, as told by a financial newspaper that has had too much coffee.
01 /Found
One to four people. A solo founder is a complete company. Give it a name and a story; no business plan, no real paperwork, no vice-president titles (unless you insist).
Solo counts. You are the board.
02 /Make
A video, a website, an app, a game, a physical prototype, a song, a service. If visitors can use it, watch it or take part in it, it counts. Use AI for anything, and start small: a finished joke beats an unbuilt empire.
Finished beats promised.
03 /Exhibit
When the exhibition opens, everyone experiences at least three other companies. Your company also introduces one randomly assigned project in a single sentence: fairly, accurately, and funny if you can manage it.
Three visits. One sentence. Zero hit pieces.
04 /Invest
Every registered person holds three gold coins: one per company, never their own. Move them as often as you like until voting closes. The market is public in real time, so yes, you can watch your stock go up.
Plus three judges' awards. Bring snacks.
The schedule
About one to two weeks, online and offline. Every date is set in GMT+8 and shown in your own time too.
Sign up in a minute. Found a company, join one, find teammates or come as an investor.
Date TBA
Build your thing with your intern. Ship something people can actually experience.
Date TBA
Visit companies, introduce your assigned project, promote, collaborate, stage friendly fake acquisitions.
Date TBA
Presentations, the voting deadline and the market close. Online and at the venue.
Date TBA
The audience favourite and three judges' awards. The ticker goes quiet. Legends are made.
Date TBA
Late registration stays open until voting closes.
What can you make
Formats are not limited to this list. Practical, playful or deliberately absurd, as long as people can experience it.
A 60-second commercial for a lunch-defence system that does not exist. The ad is real; the pigeons are actors.
A website that tells your sourdough starter it is doing great. Daily affirmations, bread-safe.
A desktop app that shows what every meeting costs, live, in croissants.
A cardboard sensor that posts a strongly worded memo when the office plant is thirsty.
Incorporate companies inside companies inside companies. You win by confusing the auditor.
Type a complaint; an AI choir sings it back to you in four-part harmony.
A lavishly designed annual report for a company whose only product is vibes.
A service, a zine, a ritual, a song. If you can explain how to experience it, it belongs.
Every company on this page is fictional. Any resemblance to real pigeons is coincidental.
No experience needed
Design, writing, filmmaking, research, testing and development all have a place. Coding is optional. Curiosity is mandatory.
Enter alone, bring a team, ask for teammates, or register as an investor.
Classifieds
Wanted
Must have opinions about kerning. Will be asked to “make it pop”. Will make it pop.
Wanted
Turns chaos into a pitch. Names the company. Writes the press release for a product that is 40% real.
Wanted
Shoots the commercial, the trailer or the mockumentary. Phones accepted; tripods admired.
Wanted
Finds out whether anyone wants this. Interviews three strangers. Reports back with charts.
Wanted
Breaks things before the audience does. Paid in bug reports and gratitude.
Wanted
Builds the thing, or supervises the intern while it builds the thing. Both count.
Pay: glory, snacks and three coins.
The Bad Business Economy
Every registered person, founders and audience alike, gets three gold coins to invest in the companies they love.
Drag a coin onto a company, or use the Invest buttons. A practice market: nothing is saved.

Meet Intern
Intern is a desktop agent for macOS and Windows. It reads your project, writes code, runs tools, delegates to sub-agents and can even draft your submission. Sign in with your Unscripted account; the models are on us.
Free for every registered person. macOS and Windows.
LLM API
Prefer Cursor, Cline, Codex CLI or opencode? Create a personal API key and point any OpenAI-compatible tool at our gateway. No visible quotas; just be reasonable, the intern is watching the meter.
Works with any OpenAI-compatible harness

Quarterly report
Updated live. Burn rate: enthusiastic.
Questions
No. Design, writing, film, research and testing all count, and your intern can handle code if you want some. Judges look at what you made and how people experience it, not at lines of code.
Yes. A solo participant is a complete company. You can also bring up to three teammates, or find some on the teammate board.
About one to two weeks: a Create stage, an Exhibit stage and a final day. Exact dates are published here in GMT+8, with your local time alongside.
Both. Work wherever you like. The final day has presentations online and at the venue.
Yes, any time until voting closes. Join, leave or add a teammate whenever you want.
No. Late registration stays open until voting closes, and late registrants still get all three coins.
Every registered person has three coins: one per company, never their own. Move them as often as you like before the deadline. Totals are public in real time; who voted for whom is not.
Absolutely. Use Claude, Codex, Gemini or anything else. Just disclose honestly what the AI did and what your team did.
Nothing. Registration, the Intern app and the LLM API are free for every registered person.
Yes, as long as you clearly separate earlier work from what you added during the event.
Registration takes a minute. Ideas can come later. The intern is already at its desk.
